Then add any additional extras you want and divide the total by the rate of exchange stated by either your bank or building society. Remember our web site can calculate this for you at anytime. The example 1 shown below shows you how to go about this simple calculation if you do not have access to the Internet. TOP OF PAGE Question. What sort of deposit will I need to pay on my new car, how much is it and is it in safe hands? Answer. When placing a factory order to build a RHD UK 2001 Specification our supplying main dealers require a 15% deposit to be placed with the order, made payable directly to the main dealer (This also gives you peace of mind as these are Manufacturers dealers). The deposit is to confirm your firm commitment and allows the Manufacturer to build your car. If a customer wished to cancel their order AutoZone would endeavor to return the deposit paid once we or the Main dealer had sold the ordered car. The deposit needs to be electronically transferred from your bank account over to the relevant authorised main dealers bank account (This allows for a smooth safe and recorded transfer). |
Note. AutoZone acts as a broker between the customer and the main dealer and therefore we do not take any money from customers for deposits or outstanding balances. (This gives you total peace of mind as it’s the same as buying a car from your local main dealer. TOP OF PAGE Question. Sterling can go down as well as up against all foreign currencies, could I loose money on my new car? Answer. AutoZone is able to offer our service at NO RISK. Paying in a foreign currency presents risk because you are using foreign exchange rates, which like investments can go up and down. In order to eliminate the "risk" element AutoZone advise clients to protect themselves when making the final payment. (1) Foreign Currency Account -: A foreign currency account can be set up to run alongside your current account. You convert the whole purchase price into EUROS at the time of when you have ordered your new car. The EUROS is then held in this account. This is the easiest method as you will obtain a higher exchange rate than a forward exchange contract and you will earn interest whilst the money is in the foreign currency account. Available through your local bank, building society or
an independent provider. (2) Forward Exchange Contract -: A forward exchange contract is as the name suggests, a contract which is written between one of the above or your bank/building society and you which will guarantee the exchange rate that you will use in the future to convert your Pounds Sterling into EUROS. Whether the pound rises or falls over the duration of delivery the exchange rate, which is detailed in the Contract, is the one you will use upon taking delivery of your car. Available through your local bank, building society or
an independent provider. Tax Free Price is 21,009.00.00 EURO Subtract the 15% deposit of 3,151.35 Euros (calculated by multiplying 21,009.00 E by 15%) = 17,857.65 Remaining Balance secured at e.g. 1.65 Euros / £1 TOP OF PAGE Question. Will my imported car conform to the same UK regulations & standards as cars supplied by UK main dealers? Answer. All AutoZone import new cars are exactly what you would see if you took a trip down to your local main dealer. That is factory built right hand drive, full UK 2001 specification with English manuals. The only difference is the price. In most European countries where cars are built it is up to the manufacturer to meet certain design and construction requirements, which are implemented to make sure that they meet up to date environmental and safety standards. "Type Approval" or otherwise known as the "Certificate of Conformity" is recognised as the main system for ensuring such requirements are met. It is gained by the vehicle undergoing a series of stringent tests concerning environmental and safety issues. More importantly it is one of the first requirements needed when registering a vehicle. It must have a valid certificate of conformity to show the model or "type" has been approved. On top of this EC law states that all cars must have an E Mark that all manufacturers have to comply with. Without this they cannot be driven on English or European roads. All vehicles supplied by AutoZone come with the latest E-Marking and the relevant "type approval "certificate. TOP OF PAGE Question. How does my new come arrive at my door from the European Main Dealer? Answer. When the manufacturer supplies the continental Main Dealer with your new car you will automatically be sent a "Vehicle Ready For Collection (PACK)." This pack details exactly what AutoZone must carry out in order to achieve the final UK 1st permanent registration & car arrival into the UK, answering any possible questions that you may have at this stage along with confirmation of the chassis number & outstanding balance. Before the cars arrive upon the shores of England each one is checked for any bodywork imperfections and is then shipped to Purfleet. They are then taken to a section belonging to Purfleet "Car Control". Here the cars are stored whilst the UK registrations take place. At this point all the necessary paperwork is taken care of and our transporter will then deliver the car to your door or you may collect it at this point. On delivery you are presented with a ”Vehicle Collection Pack” Once the outstanding balance has been received by the main dealer the car is then ready to either be transported to the UK, via one of our transport contractors or you are able to collect it directly from the main dealer. Our transport contractors use the latest transporters and all new cars are covered under a insurance cover of £1 million. This pack has all your necessary paperwork and a courtesy message from AutoZone. TOP OF PAGE Question. Will UK VAT have to be paid on my new car? Who will be responsible for dealing with this along with registering my new car permanently in the UK? Answer. As you purchased the car in Europe TAX FREE on entering the UK Value Added Tax will be required to be paid. The VAT is calculated on the rate of exchange current on the first day of the month the car entered the UK. This rate is fixed by Customs & Excise for the remaining period of that month. However, the customer is not billed by Customs & Excise for a period of up-to 4 weeks after we have handed in all the relevant documentation to acquire a successful permanent UK registration. Payments for VAT are payable to Customs & Excise not to AutoZone. The car will then need to be put “on the road” which requires an English registration as well as number plates & 12 months road fund license. On registration the customer's name and address are supplied so they are the first and sole owner of the car. The V5 document used to register the car shall state " Declared New at First Registration in GB." It is at this point that AutoZone will charge the customer the source fee as well as the “on the road” fees which include 12 months road fund license, first registration fee, number plates & transport. At this point he car is ready for collection or delivery to your door along with a “customer satisfaction document", this document needs to be signed by you stating the car is perfectly delivered to you and that you are entirely satisfied.
